November 21, 2009, as “California Family Volunteer Day.”Governor of the State of California As a young boy growing up in Austria, I could hardly imagine that I would become a multiple Mr. Universe winner or an action movie star and certainly not Governor of the great state of California. Even with those accomplishments, I am most proud that I have raised a beautiful family with my wife, Maria. My family has been a constant source of inspiration and joy to me and remains the most important part of my life. In today’s world, chances are parents and children are incredibly busy with their lives, and family outings can become scarce. It is critical to recognize this and take time to experience things as a family, and one fantastic way to bring the family together is to volunteer. By serving together, a family can strengthen their bond and discover common interests, all while making a meaningful impact on their community. On California Family Volunteer Day, we honor all the families who already serve, and invite other families to reach out in service to others. Those who wish to volunteer can find a wide range of opportunities and projects in their area by visiting CaliforniaVolunteers.org. When families embrace the spirit of service, our communities, state and nation become stronger.NOW, THEREFORE, I, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim November 21, 2009, as “California Family Volunteer Day.”IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of California to be affixed this 18th day of November 2009.![]()
